In 2020 through 2021, I designed the concept for the Guilford Works Mobile Career Center at SPEVCO, Inc. This state-of-the-art mobile unit serves as a fully accessible, 12-station computer lab equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Wi-Fi, satellite internet, and multimedia capabilities. It features an ADA-compliant restroom and wheelchair access, making it inclusive for all users.
The design process involved balancing stakeholder needs to ensure the vehicle's utility and accessibility. Since its launch in 2021, it has become a vital resource for professional development in the Greensboro, NC area. The Mobile Career Center is in high demand, with reservations extending into 2025 for events like the NC African Services Coalition and the Greensboro Veterans Day Parade.
The center provides services such as job search assistance, career development, résumé workshops, and digital literacy training. It also supports businesses with recruitment, pre-employment screening, and training.
The Mobile Career Center has attended 59 events and served 453 individuals within the first six months of operation, significantly impacting community outreach and workforce development in Guilford County.
